The Center for Wealth Preservation, a General Agency of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), and the New York Mets will sponsor Special Needs Awareness Night on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 when the New York Mets play the Milwaukee Brewers at Citi Field in Queens, New York. Special Needs Awareness Night provides an opportunity for many consumers and staff members of organizations that serve the special needs population to attend a Major League ballgame, thanks to tickets donated by the Center for Wealth Preservation and its Special Care Planners.
This event honors the 54 million Americans nationwide with disabilities, and acknowledges their extraordinary families and caregivers. During a pre-game ceremony at home plate, Special Care Planners Jeff Silverman and Mitch Weisbrot will present two leaders in the special needs community with the “MassMutual Disability Leadership Award” in recognition of their tireless efforts to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities.
This year’s honorees are:
- Jon Feingold, Ph.D., Executive Director of The Hagedorn Little Village School, Jack Joel Center for Special Children, a school that provides educational and therapeutic services for children with developmental disabilities (www.littlevillage.org).
- Esther Gomez-Nieto, founder of Alexander’s Angels, an organization that raises awareness and funds for Down syndrome causes (www.alexandersangels.org).
“I am proud of MassMutual’s commitment to the special needs community and pleased to host an event that calls attention to individuals with disabilities and countless others who love them and provide services that enhance their lives,” said Gary Ranftle, General Agent of the Center for Wealth Preservation. “MassMutual’s SpecialCareSM program, developed exclusively by MassMutual, offers access to information, specialists, and financial solutions that can help improve the quality of life for people with special needs, their families and caregivers. Our goal, and the goal of those we will honor, is to help people with disabilities to live dignified and fulfilling lives.”
